He definitely charges far too little. Did my website for £100!! (mates rate).
But as he always says - its the hosting he's after.
He says he hosts more than 100 Forums alone so he can't be doing all thath bad. Just those sites with Forums would bring him in more than £20 grand a year alone. I wanted some changes done to the site a few months back and he said he couldn't do any more development work till next year so he must be fairly busy with that too.

I suppose if you do othe development cheaply then you are building up recurring business from the hosting.

What did Lindsay used to do before. Was he a contractor?

In the old days you had to become members of my site to log in, so we made the members automatic members of the Forum and disabled the login facility on the Forum.

We opened up the site to non-members but my site builder said to leave the Forum as it is. What happens now is that people have to join up on the emain site as members to make them automatic Forum members but those who come into the Forum don't realise that and there is nothing to tell them that they have to do this.

I'm not here to flog my Forum though, just to explain, as CUK have pretty much won the battle of the Forums. Perhaps only the PCG one or maybe the CC.net one can even come anywhere close.

I concentrate my activity on the main site now.

Yes that was me Gerry, and you never had the courtesy to say thanks. Especially when his rates are so reasonable and his work so good!

I forgot he did some work for you, I assume he's hosting as well.
Well let me take the opportunity to say thanks now. He rebuilt the CC.net site for me for £200 and hosts it for £270 quid a year - and that includes putting ads up and taking them down and any small changes that I want. He's now changing the meta tags for me for free. So thanks again. If you're ever in Moville in Co. Donegal...

As for pF he came to ITC.com and posted regularly for a while in the Comments section after the articles, but we must have upset him so he posts at Sh99 now.

Last I knew he still hadn't got work since the downturn started.

And while you're on Gerry, I'd like to take you to task for shamelessly promoting P4 a few months back. Have things got so bad you need to take the shilling from these scumbags now? Oh, and then deleting all the critical posts. Tut tut.

I'm still here - 7 years I think - man and boy. This is third board isnt it?. I don't know why??? I cant even be bothered to discuss contracting anymore as it's far too boring and I have nothing to ask.

I do remember Janek up n'leaving after a spate of cut n pastes.

As far as the racists were concerned, remember every so often we used to get posts from a brand new poster saying something like:-
"I wonder if you can help. I've just arrived from India and I am seeking your advice about the best way for me to look for contract work here".

It was always so obvious that it was some BNP guy trying to stir it up.
