"The Group does not pursue a high volume/low margin model."

e.g. They first find a small naive company with a dire resource problem and tell them that despite being based in the outer hebrides they have to pay the going (city of london) rate for its contractors. They match this with a wet-behind-the-ears contractor who'll work for half the going rate because it's their first contract, and they'll say the client won't pay very much because they're in the sticks.

Result = £200 per day commission.

Agent gets five contractors on the go and makes several hundred pounds a day for their boss. The rest they get to spend on hair gel, fat ties and rounds of unusual spirits in the wine bar.

S3 agencies are the sort of place Syed from the apprentice might work, if he were to become a lot more slimey, devious and lying in his ways.

S3 Group is the name of the parent company of a large number of recruitment agents. These include Pathway, Huxley, Huntress and many others. A quick search of the forums will find a comprehensive list.

They are usually derided for poor service, dodgy contract clauses and generally regarded as the bottom feeding end of the market. Which is impressive given the reputation of most agencies around here.

Having said all that if they have the right job at the right rate and you are aware of their reputation, then it's your call whether you use them or not.
