I represented a friend at the parking appeals tribunal in which we won the case. The council’s own photographs showed there was no offence and the law has been misinterpreted by the council. (It took me four hours of research and a few hours to go the tribunal). I looked deeply into the matter of claiming costs however; there is no way of doing so and no way of suing the council even if they issue a ticket maliciously. Hence why so many tickets are issued, they know the worst that could happen is that the parking appeals tribunal will rule that the ticket is not payable. There must be a huge number of wrongly issued tickets that are not contested.

Did you have trouble reading the letter, to ascertain who sent it?Originally posted by diseasex View PostIt's council or government agencies that I'm after , whatever the name . Apparently they think they can just chance send you a letter and hope 20% of victims pay without questioning.
Very important if you plan to sue

Is this your latest get rich quick scheme - suing people?Originally posted by diseasex View PostIt's council or government agencies that I'm after , whatever the name . Apparently they think they can just chance send you a letter and hope 20% of victims pay without questioning.
You want to sue someone for something, but you don't know who or why.
Most parking charges are outsourced, so you'd need to look at the letter you received. If it's not a parking charge, then you'd need to look at the letter and contact the relevant agency, armed with the evidence of your innocence.

Follow up question is the invoice from the council or from a third party?
Question 3 (the one that always seems to upset people who receive these invoices) - what facts are you withholding from us?
