    Go direct.

    If you network you can get decent opportunities without agencies.

    I've contracted at a couple of companies where a contractor has gone permanent and they got the role by approaching someone else first.

    Around 45-46k. Simple maths, day rate x 5 (days in a week) x 52 (if you are paid 4 weekly) or day rate x 261 (that's 365 less 104 for weekends), if you are paid calendar monthly.
    If you're struggling with that, it's no bleedin' wonder you're benched.

    i worked in one big office with helpdesk monkey one end , project managers the other end ,infrastructure 3rd line , Dba`s, IT managers,system designers and all the other gubbins.

    all getting pummeled for results from the trickle down masters , add in ITIL Prince sla kpi`s and all that other crud and you have a big soup of stress and job protection.
    Then you need to learn to master your skill and abilities properly. You could knock up a business supporting 20 - 30 small businesses for 5 -20k a piece and be rolling in it instead you are fixated on one client and probably a good target for inside IR35...
