Can you confirm that his surname is Mitty?Originally posted by Mordac View PostBelieve me, what MF says, and what he's capable of, are usually complete strangers to each other...

Can we not just send MF there to sort the problem out? Doesn't he say that he is specialised in such surreal stuff?Originally posted by Mordac View PostCorrect - expect the Russian horde to be on their best behaviour INSIDE, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Lille tomorrow or Thursday...
For the uninitiated, Russia are playing in Lille, and that's where ticketless England and Wales fans have been told to go, because Lens (where they play on Thursday) is so small, the population could fit into the stadium and there'd still be empty seats. And it's the smallest stadium in the tournament. Lille is seriously going to look like Baghdad come Friday...Well done UEFA. Still, maybe we can team up with the Welsh, and give the Commies a right good kicking. Hope springs eternal...

Seen it all in Football and pretty hardened to it all.... but if I had made travel plans to go to Lille I would be fast changing them....

There was indeed no trouble, but only because Arse fans were only allowed to travel on specially chartered planes, get bussed in, and bussed straight out again. They were probably in Moscow for about 6 or 7 hours at most, as I later found out. The problems I referred to, if you read my post again carefully, were with Chelsea fans previously, who had booked independent flights and hotels, and were left at the mercy of the Moscow police - who did feck all to protect them.Originally posted by DaveB View PostThat would have been the 1st leg match in the champions league. The Arse went down 1-0, no reports of any violence on or off the pitch as I recall. I think you may be overplaying the threat a little.

It is part of that, only thugs paid by Putin - he got no money left to pay for many new stadiums.Originally posted by Jog On View Post<tin foil hat>What if this is all part of the campaign to take the world cup away from Russia and the thugs were paid by John McCain?</tin foil hat>

That's probably England's best chance of getting out of the groups.Originally posted by stek View PostI hope they kick off again, get kicked ....

I went to a Dynamo game 2004, against some other Russian team, stadium had massive floodlights. Hardly anyone there...Originally posted by Mordac View PostRussia should never have got past the first stage of the bidding process, they have a blatant culture of racism (certainly among football fans), and their Ultras will have free license to take on whoever they want. The police will do nothing. About 10 years ago, I was offered the chance to go to go to CSKA Moscow v Arsenal, was getting ready to book it all up, when the guy who sat next to me said he'd been a couple of years earlier with Chelsea, and it was carnage. All the Moscow teams fans gang up, especially when there's an English team in town. The best you can hope from the police is that they will try and identify your body. Needless to say, I declined to go, and saved myself over a grand. And quite possibly my life.
I think it's fair to say at this point I've been to Russia and mostly Moscow first onto somewhere else ten times or so and never been in any bother at all. But i have seen a lot of racism and homophobia even in young people, even if it's just mumbled tutting and disgusted looks at the only black man in Chelyabinsk.....Last edited by stek; 14 June 2016, 13:24.
