Yeah you learn to be quite blunt in interviews like that...

My standard response is: Yes there are several ways to do what you want to achieve but the answer really depends on what tech debt you have forgotten that you already have. Because any firm your size will have cut a number of corners to meet business needs... Im not committing to a solution here and anyone that does is an idiot and likely to have rushed in for the simplest answer...

Why don't you hire me, then we can get on with auditing the as is environment so that we can plan a migration properly?

They are either serious and I get the role or they go and find another mug...

Go into interview and it's not like any other I have been to. He jumps straight into clients architecture and asks for design with very specific trouble scenarios. I have been working with the tech for donkey years and walk him through possible options.

Concludes by him saying those are the best answers he has got. It's now been 3 days - have called pimp and he says they are still working on the process but no confirmation. What happened to needing someone ASAP? Feel they got the answers and now can proceed with solution for client.

I hate that when that happens.
It's a horrible industry. It builds expectations that plumbers are readily available.

Karma will come and bite them on the backside and then you may get another call up for a second interview
