The biggest eye opener I had wrt to knives was the first time my brother in law came to Krav Maga.
He is out of shape and never trained. Outside of bullying kids at school he has never been in a fight.
The training was that you fought at half speed and when the instructor shouted whichever of you had the knife pulled it and you fought at full speed.
He had the knife we fought at half speed. The instructor shouted and the knife came out, my brain froze for a second because everything had changed.
He piled into me, stabbing and slashing at any part of me he could reach and using his empty hand to protect his knife hand. I tried all kinds of techniques and in the end I just ran.
I got stabbed 17 times before simply out running him.
I have had knives pulled on me for real before and walked away uncut - I did not realise how lucky I had been back then!

Reminds me of an episode of Justified where a knife loving hillbilly goes on about the 21 foot rule throughout the episode and ends up trying it on a US Marshal.
If I remember the episode correctly the Marshall starts by asking "what if I have my gun already drawn?", then plays along by holstering. Won't spoil the outcome but it is funny.
Damn good show. One for that USA thread for sure.
As for guns, meh. I can kill people with my mind. Through boredom.

And some reasoned discussion below the article too
Don Smith Are you seriously complaining about what I'm wearing? There's only two type of people who do that, women and fags. I'll let you ponder on which one you identify as.

How to survive a gun fight.
How to survive a gunfight (according to a drunk Green Beret)
For dear old Freako, this is a slightly inebriated 20 year US Marine vet on how to survive a gunfight.
Best way is not to get shot.
Trust me on that.
