The EU wants/needs our money.Originally posted by seanraaron View PostI don't understand why this is assumed. Except that instead of going to other member states and having a frank and fruitful dialogue about reform, our glorious leader is going with a list of unilateral demands to play to an in/out referendum back home.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWe should take what is good about the EU and build on it what we should not do is to allow it to gather more power and control.

NATO is the main reason there has been no war in Europe. Certainly the bonding of economies and trade has created considerable interdependence between EU states. It would howver be stupid to endorse the EU just because of this when it has failed to manage the EURO or migration the two big issues of the day. The interdependence of economies is a very good thing but if this means handing more power to the EU then it will become a controlling totalitarian state just like the Soviet Union.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostEU has been a success as no major war in Europe since 1945. Nothing to do with all those nukes.
We should take what is good about the EU and build on it what we should not do is to allow it to gather more power and control.

It's all fluff. They are playing to their home audiences, making them seem tough against the anglo saxon trouble maker. At the "last minute" they will all compromise. Everyone will be a winner and Cameron will come home saying what a fantastic deal he's got.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostSo far the Bankers offer seem to have been zero every time.
Some minor rules will be amended. The EU will be able to veto them. Nothing will change.

Not a bad idea that, the trouble is that it's such a lovely place. The people and the countries are superb. It's just the political institutions that are the problem.Originally posted by seanraaron View PostYes, thank god the British have had nukes to keep Western Europe free from the scourge of war. No doubt we can start demanding tribute post-Brexit in exchange for not nuking the EU...
