    I worked in CA for a while, it's a lovely place but I would NEVER live in Los Angeles (or even visit).

    Happy to live in Woodside near Palo Alto.

    Someone (EO I think) recently posted the URL of a page where one can see an interactive graphic of atmospheric currents:

    earth :: a global map of wind, weather, and ocean conditions

    (You can actually drag the globe round.)

    I'm curious to know why there always seems to be a quite a prominent purple patch over Eastern China.

    Could this really be smog?
