Sounds like he got a fair trial to me.

It's not surprising, but imagine if Russia grounded Cameron & searched his plane. After all they are allies of USAN.

Let us not forget that the US was able to ground a presidential plane by pressuring Spain, France and Italy to deny permission to cross their airspace forcing the plane to land in Austria.

Then the Austrians searched the plane. A ******* presidential plane.

The US has a lot of influence.

Spain, Italy and France are NATO members.

Why should they guarantee it? If the US produces compelling evidence that he has committed a crime which fully meets the criteria for extradition, why shouldn't they hand him over.

Why should they guarantee it? If the US produces compelling evidence that he has committed a crime which fully meets the criteria for extradition, why shouldn't they hand him over.

It's a smokescreen anyway. Even if the swedes were to produce such a guarantee, Assange would say that the "guarantee" provided wasn't watertight enough and wasn't worth the paper it's written on. There probably isn't any watertight legal framework to issue such a guarantee under the extradition law - and he knows that.

The Swedes know that he knows that, which is why they aren't wasting their time giving him a "guarantee".

He has been effectively contained for 3 years in a heavily guarded area. If the Swedes wanted to interview him I'm sure they could have arranged it and if they couldn't there would be solid proof they had tried very hard. That doesn't seem to have happened.

The facts and government actions don't seem to tie up with the accusations.

We have no case against him we just have to hand him over to the Swedes. The same way Spanish authorities had to arrest the parents of that terminally ill child and let the British authorities deal with them.

The Swedes want to interview him over an crime. Like nearly all people accused of a crime he's claiming he is innocent. A crime that is under Swedish law not UK or US law. However unless he's interviewed he can't be cleared and the Ecuadorians won't allow it in their embassy. Though the Swedes have refused to do it in the embassy at different points.

In regards to handing over to the US, Sweden isn't a member of NATO and due to their proximity to Russian they have less incentive to than a Latin American country. However at one point Russia didn't want him.

Assenge is demanding the UK give him free passage but while we are signed up to European arrest warrant system we can't, otherwise suspects and criminals we want will just hop over the channel to mainland Europe with no prospect of them returning.
