Well now that Egypt is out of bounds and Greece is a rip off they don't really need Russian tourists that badly....Originally posted by darmstadt View PostCould be quite uncomfortable for a lot of Russians, I'm thinking about the fat greedy uncivilised ******* all on holiday there now. If the Russians could prove the plane was in Syrian airspace they would, rather than just claiming it.
The Turks are busy publishing radar data and images backing up their side of the story. If they have cockpit footage / voice recordings they'll appear in due course as well for a guess.
There is no milage in it for the Turks in attacking a Russian plane other than it being in their airspace after repeatedly warning the Russians about violations.
Putin has other things to worry about at the moment, like turning the lights back on in Crimea and dealing with domestic industrial unrest, rather than looking for a confrontation with NATO.
He'll bluster and grandstand over it but ultimately nothing will come of it. Saving face over this is the least of his worries.

They use consumer grade SatNav too in the cockpits! Garmin type, gaffa taped to the airframe. I've have a pic somewhere.Originally posted by GB9 View PostPut in had this coming. He's been taking the pee for a while. Can't believe this latest fly over Turkish territory was also accidental.
Can't believe how easy it was to shoot down too. Doesn't bode well for extremely outdated Russian aircraft.
Anyway, the Turkmens have apparently murdered the two pilots....
