    The Uni I went to has a scheme where its graduates can remain members of its library for about a tenner a year, even old ex-students of the place. I am fairly sure this then gives you reciprocal access to other uni libraries up and down the country too. So there is an official way of getting in most of these places. I read about it in the bumph they send out to ex-students there now and again.

    The first thing I do when I secure a new contract is to find the local municipal library so I have somewhere to go and eat my sandwiches and read the papers.

    Occasionally I have used university libraries and have had no problems until recently when I tried accessing the library of an establishment called the University of Law & they wouldn't let me in. They said I needed a card to access the barriers & they would let me have one unless I could show them a valid NUS card.

    So much for accessibility.

    Is this kind of thing commonplace now & is it yet another manifestation of the anti-terrorism narrative?
