Is that like one of those "win a car contests" where the winner is the last one with their hand on the car?

Leaving on monday morning and coming back on friday evening will cost me £160 , for a 100 mile journey to London and back.
f**king train mafia, they have license to print money.
Only the rich people or the public servants can spend that much money.
As a poor contractor i just take the coach for £20 return.

It'll be more of a problem, with contractors scrounging the bargain basement tickets.

It's what I'm doing, I get 2/3 off the train fare that wayOriginally posted by LondonManc View PostIf you can travel off-peak, it's usually much better and the pricing tends to be more consistent. There's also no panic about getting to the station for a certain train.

On the route and times I take to London, it's often cheaper to travel first class than standard.
Last one was about £40 first class and £70 in standard.

IIRC you can only book 12 weeks ahead - after that the prices go back up again.Originally posted by Scrag Meister View PostI am now commuting Sun and Friday to London and back.
We know if you book in advance you can save a few quid, MORE THAN A FEW QUID.
I have now booked up until the end of January 2016 and the my recent purchases were around the £105 mark and the ones in Jan were £43, that is a huge difference.
The strange thing is that I tried booking a ticket at the end of Jan returning beginning of Feb and it was £110, up from the previous weeks £43.
What a rip off.
