Always a problem. Especially if you need car to get to client site.

Mobile mechanic? I've used these in the past and even got them to rock up to client car park to sort my motor (assuming client has a car park).

Yes. MyCarNeedsA.com - Compare Car Service & MOT Deals

Enter your details and whether you want garages that offer a collection or drop off service.

I used ServicingStop once. They collect your car from work, screw it up and return it. Had to take them to small claims court to get my money back plus cost of repairs.

My car's starter motor packed in a month ago, RAC sorted out a flatbed to come and pick it up and drop it off at the garage, all for free.

    Thanks. That would be appreciated.

My dealer does that if I want him to. I also have a button which I can press if it breaks down and they'll come and pick it up and drive me on or even put me up in a hotel. Its even got a concierge service but I haven't used it yet. Actually, its got a load of things I haven't used, nor will use such as Facebook and Twitter! It does have a 'Screaming Burnout Start' mode which I'm tempted to use at the lights one day but can see myself ending up pointing the wrong way with the arse of the car up a lamp post, perhaps that's why they have the callout button

If you don't want the hassle of owning a car get a lease car, had a BMW on it and they pickup and leave you a temp car.

Financially I'm sure owning a car and running it into the ground is better but if you don't want any hassle it's an option.

Buy a car that can be repaired by any wrench monkey, that has no warranty on it?

Or drop the car off the night before and post the keys through the letter box if it's a dealership/indie specialist job.

You can then organize Enterprise to pick you up from the garage if you have no mates/better half/need a car the next day. When you drop the car off at Enterprise they will run you back to the garage.

Yes, the garage I use in North Devon does that. (They are about seven miles away.)

    And if not, why not?

I think it's just not a service that makes sense to most garages. They have to spare two people from doing actual work, twice, and presumably there are insurance issues.

Good garages are typically busy all the time so don't need to do this.
