Private health care tends to be pretty jank, usually bupa's cheapest scheme or whatever.

The two permie jobs that I had it were basically the same, if your NHS gp diagnoses you with something that requires referral to a specialist, they will pay 250 quid of the cost of a private referral (which may or may not cover it) as well as the cost of any necessary non-cosmetic surgery/treatment privately.

So if you break your leg, or suffer some serious ailment, you can have private treatment. For everyone else, it does nothing. And some consultants charge more than 250 quid, so you can expect to pay the difference!

They keep demanding the NHS works 24/7 when really not that many people want to access the service that way, I mean why go to your GP at night when your work will let you go during the daytime?

SO they are paying GPs 150 quid an hour in the evening to sit in surgeries that are hardly booked and have a massive do not attend percentage.

I see the conclusion was to improve efficiency and contain costs, what they need is more management consultants and IT systems then. If they sack a few nurses and doctors they could fund more IT projects to make the remainder more efficient
