the night vision pics are now available

this sequence was taken in the pitch blackness. elephants are surprisingly quiet when moving about, even at night.
I didn't hear this guy, even though he was less than twenty feet away, I spotted him with the NV whilst panning the river below. He went up and down the lekky fence, then he hears me. probably opening a fozzies.
He stares right at my position and his ears go up.

They will still see baboons, monkeys, weird squirrels and mongoose. lots of raptors

assuming they get out of the city

I believe that most solar towers use a core of molten salt as it has extreme ability to retain heat and keep producing steam for the generators hours after sunset.

this was a few km after. if you look closely, you can just see the rim of the moon to the left.
I had great hopes for that shot. but it bummed out

If scientists/engineers can nail efficient long distance transmission of the power harnessed then that's (e.g.) the USA's entire future energy needs taken care of.

Yep, I took them with my trusty old 'point n click' Panasonic TZ30.

The sun was rising behind me and the moon setting in front. I drove like a bat out of hell down the motorway to get the moon setting in the shot.

We were on our last leg of the trip, from upington to st Helena bay, just north of Cape Town.

I will post some before and after shots, to give it some context.
