I never get involved in manual labour. If one is between butlers then best to get the bike shop to do it.

Dallas is a wimp. Only ever done a single IM. And now rows only.Originally posted by ctdctd View PostTykeMerc is sounding like the best suggestion but I'm signed up to September
Muddy, I think I need to keep the seatbelts in the car. Does Kevlar really work now? I was never impressed with it in my proper cycling days.
What do Brillo or Dallas use - the properly mad cycling posters?
Any puncture proof tyres are fine. JUst go to your local bike shop.

Will get some gunk and/or a kevlar tyre next time I go past a suitable bicycle emporium.
No need to venture out - wiggle is as cheap as most places, deliver for free and give you free Haribo! What's not to like?
They have a refer a friend scheme where you get free sunglasses, and the referrer gets 10% of your order value (you do want a new 2K bike as well, don't you?)
If you want, PM me your email address and I'll happily refer you - the sunglasses aren't bad, had a set that lasted a few years.
Edit: looks like the refer a friend is only for orders > £50, but wiggle are good anyway!

I used to cycle along beside some thorny hedges and fallen thorns kept puncturing my tyres. My bike shop just sprayed in some of that puncture repair stuff and it worked a treat: I'd get a thorn in the tyre, stop, pull it out, it would hiss for less than a second, and then I could ride on. Much of the time I didn't even need to pump it up later. Magic. And cheap.

What is causing the punctures?Originally posted by ctdctd View PostMy new years resolution was to cycle to the new salt mines - only 3 miles or so mainly along a cycle track which is un-metalled. Sort of compacted gravel and chippings.
Regular cheapy mountain bike.
I have had two punctures so far

Please advise how to stop this happening.
That is all...

I got these for my mountain bike and went from having punctures every time I used it to none at all (although admittedly I've only done a few hundred miles on it since I changed them). And they're dirt cheap now, so got to be worth a try. And you get free Haribo!Originally posted by ctdctd View PostTykeMerc is sounding like the best suggestion but I'm signed up to September

Kevlar tyres. You're less likely to get punctures if you pump 'em up hard, but might be a bit less comfortable off road.
Or, according to they guy at the car place, you can line your tyres with bits of cut up car seatbelt for the same effect.
