Nudity, Swearing and Violence

I liked Roachford.
We'd always wanted to incorporate a full blown church organ into our act; we always thought it would augment that heavy metal sound but the logistics of carting around such a piece of hardware in the back of a transit van precluded this from ever happening.
Our drummer, though, was the son of a vicar and through his old man's contacts managed to get his hands on an old harmonium. This is like a cut down, more mobile version of a church organ. The only drawback is the air supply - you need someone pumping away with their foot on the bellows as someone else is banging away on the keyboard. Of course, in great heavy metal style,we turned this to our advantage and employed some buxom chick in a bikini to do the honours and, consequently, tickets for Nudity, Swearing and Violence gigs were selling like hot cakes.
Unfortunately, as we started playing the student circuit, we fell foul of student union pc diktats about sexism and whatnot so we replaced the chick with a bloke in a pair of y-fronts and promptly alienated most of our audience who were almost exclusively male.
And that spelled the end of our first band, Nudity, Swearing and Violence. Shame, but we learnt from the experience that you need a gimmick to pull in the crowds & such gimmickry would became a feature of our later incarnations.

Cut Double - 80s Band
Anyone remember the musical revolution of 1989?
Nope, wrong. Not that drab navel gazing dross from "Madchester".
There was something far more exciting afoot - a movement that set out to bridge the gap between contemporary times and the days of Hendrix when the true heirs of rock and roll still fronted bands. Along with Living Color, Fishbone and Roachford (cought, spit) was Cut Double; four lads from Langport together with a half-Nigerian bundle of pent up energy called Farly Adams. We were the originals man, THE originals and we set out to blaze a trail for world domination.
Unfortunately, just as I was on the cusp of being the face pinned to a million schoolgirls' bedroom walls, thanks to a career defining live slot on the Radio 1 Road Show at Minehead, our fortunes turned on a dime. For the worst.
Yep, for every Queen getting a shot at TOTP thanks to a David Bowie no-show there's 100 Cut Doubles... for us it was when Smiley Miley's slot overran because somebody lost the bit of paper with the tally of miles covered to date and we missed our big chance to play live to the nation. We never got another one.
But, for those of you who remember us or even came to the gigs, now's your chance to relive those heady days of '89 because we're reforming and are currently planning a "Setting the Record Straight (Andrew Roachford)" UK tour & we'll be coming to a town near you....
