In my view though, PCG/IPSE+ is all you need for peace of mind.
Amen to that, In my view the premium for IPSE+ is a no brainer, best 200 odd quid you are ever likely to spend.

isn't that the case for most insurances though. Happy to take the premiums but would much rather you never made a claim.

Sounds a poor show though Batcher, fair play to you making it out the other side.

Just never had to use any insurances yet after contracting for fourteen years, so it's interesting to see real world cases

They said there was a very slim chance of winning so they didn't believe it was worth the chance. They would have taken it on if I paid the money.

My case was passed around various people in QDOS so I kept having to update the new person with my case details which I'm sure didn't help. Eventually PCG gave me advice on how to deal with HMRC at the point we were at which I passed onto QDOS and they acted on it. The case was quietly dropped a few months later.

In hindsight I should have gone straight to PCG but I had the QDOS insurance specifically for IR35 so that seemed like the correct thing to do.

I feel that I can decide if a contract is outside and can get it altered if it's a bit dubious. No point in spending hundreds of £ to get it checked when HMRC will ignore it anyway.

Apart from that, I think IR35 is a dead duck and is only used to frighten newbies into paying more tax than they need to. If you are a member of IPSE+ and have confidence you are within the rules then you have nothing to fear.

    It goes with the territory.

If you wanna work under CL1 then this is what is required
If you wanna work in banking expected similar

    it has become the norm.

CL1 contracts are now pretty much ok (still get these checked), but it is the working practices which you will need to get confirmed.

    good luck

Every time I am asked for scanned documents etc, I keep a secure copy which I can then just use next time, ok until I realize the copy of my passport I have on file expired years ago

Yes, but usually it's all the project paperwork and documentation

To be fair, they used to be great, one of my best contracts was with them, then they fell into bed with the government and it all went wrong from there.....

Thankfully it's via an agency to capita so I'm fairly insulated from it but it did takes them 6 weeks to refuse a rate increase last renewal...

Many moons ago I worked as a perm for Capita - I have never come across such an incompetent bunch of cockhandlers in my life.

I have turned contracts down since due to their being Capita involvement*.
