In the past wars, civilains made major sacrifices so that money could be spent on funding the war effort. Rationing for example.
I propose we suspend the whole benefits system here until Iraq and Afghanistan is secured.
All those in agreement, say "aye"

Logically, if no additional funding was required from the tax payer there was either a slush fund or cuts were made in other areas.

So what you are saying is that the only reason we are paying extortionate amounts of tax is because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?Originally posted by AlfredJPruffockEither pay your share of the War effort or stop moaning about high taxation.
As the Wars continue further tax hikes are necessary along with the closrue of such frivoulous non essential public spending such as hospitals, schools etc.
Unless of course that butter is superior and made in NZGuns before buttter anybody?

You are missing the point, these scams aren't about getting out of paying tax from legitimate businesses. These are bogus businesses defrauding the tax system by getting refunds for tax never paid. Ultimately we subsidise this fraud.Originally posted by MailmanThe more oppressive you make your tax regime...the more people will do to get out of paying.
Quite simple really.

A taxi service for escape attempts? Criminals live a life of luxury in jail ... etc .. etcOriginally posted by BBCThis is a website update to a Panorama film first broadcast on July 16 2006 called Do You Want To Be A Millionaire which investigated "carousel fraud" and confronted one convicted criminal, "Riviera" Ray Woolley. He was hiding in Switzerland having escaped from prison by hailing a taxi.Last edited by wendigo100; 22 September 2006, 12:44.

ER yes, MM, please explain what flies in face of all logic. Surely somebody must be paying for it? Or do you just mean that Brown has raided contingency reserves and racked up national debt? ie we are not paying higher taxes for it YET?
£3.1bn a year back
Actually that soundsa lot less than I would have expected.
But then those are only the official figures
Our forces are about 10% of the US's aren't they?Last edited by xoggoth; 22 September 2006, 12:41.

On the one hand you demand increased millitary interventions, invasions and bombings to prop our failed foreign policy yet these require a massive amount of money courtesy of the Taxpayer.

Nuclear weapons, now those are money well spent. Any country that looks at us in a funny way, we go "What's your problem? Oo you lookin at?" and nuke em. Then in 5000 years we march in, kill all the 300 foot mutant rats and take over.
