FWIW - I agree with you here.

Whatever your feelings, IPSE will claim the mandate to represent you. Whilst I don't think it would be a bad idea for the powers over there to listen to what a wider audience of non-members has to say (and maybe even engage more with that audience), the only way that people can influence policy is by getting involved on some level.

That could take many forms - reading the emails and communications, voting at the AGM or in the elections (even if it's a spoilt paper!), posting in the forums, getting onto the CC, or getting onto the Board (for which you no longer have to have been a CC member any more).

But if you want to be heard, then taking an interest is the only way that's likely to happen.

To be fair, I don't blame IPSE for not listening. It really is the fault of the 21,775 people who are only there for the insurance. But I guess they may have tried in the past and gave up when the board had to be forced out.

Perhaps, perhaps not, one thing is for sure ipse will be around for years speaking up for contractors (even if that makes your blood boil - as many will post in this thread It does, I understand that) so the choice is simple, continue shouting as ipse until you retire, accept that ipse has contractor interests at its heart, or join the CC/BOD and push it in a different direction or better one

You assume that in their two meetings a year, the CC can accomplish much. The only way you're actually going to change it is to get on the CC, get a majority vote to call and EGM and overthrow the board.

No-one has to listen to the CC, which is perhaps why they weren't consulted on things until they were already done.
