    Agreed. The added bonus to this is that if it is any good you have a good chance of getting an offer for it from a pukka software house.

    Just make it shareware, set up a website have it lock out after 7 days and wait for the money to come rolling in

    You won't make millions but it should give you enough for beer money which is always good.

    Yes I did it. Last century in fact - I sold Y2K automated bug fixer - made a fortune only to spend it on rare materials for my time machine. Of course I then went back in time to increase price for my software and did that enough times until I found perfect price increasing which would have actually reduced my profits.

    That's how I got loaded.

    Ok. Serious question for once.

    I wrote a small application last week to do some bits & pieces for Crystal Reports. Didnt take long, about 4 hours because I know the object model quite well.

    When i mentioned the functionality to another developer(not telling him I had written something), he said, oh you can buy X online for $400.

    I downloaded the app and lo and behold - mine was better and with more functionality.

    Has anyone written any software and then put it onto one of the many sites that sell these solutions? Is it worth it?
