I guess it's the nicest rejection option, if we assume it's not true.
Other responses that would really annoy you would be:
- Oh we didn't read your email application
- We just picked the first 5 people who we could get hold of to put forward
- We thought you weren't qualified enough
Other "nice" rejections would be:
