Pretty tulipty way to do business.

Imagine contractor doing same. Starting a 3 month knowing in a months time they'll drop it because they've got something else starting. Client would go nuts if someone did this.

Some clients just keep you contracted until the work runs out and then serve notice. Happened to me a couple of times, both of which weren't particularly good payers.

I once got taken on by a client for a six month project, but they hired me before it had got final approval. After a week, it was decided to postpone the project for at least six months, so I was suddenly surplus to requirements.

It's one of those things but the rigmarole of interviewing, IR35 assurance, then really going to ground with the domain and building relationships, only for it to transpire after five weeks that you were never going to be there beyond their Mythical Man Month "throw people at the problem" panic phase, leaves a bad taste.

It's a tulipy practice but it goes with the territory. Just wondered how rife it is...
