    I don't much care for Salmond - I think he's dishonest - but I think this may be correct. The movement for Scottish independence has been going on for many many years, and Salmond has achieved a referendum with a reasonable (c. 25% if we are to believe the bookies) chance of success, and failure will still lead to a strong call for devo max. That is good politics.

    he got that award (as did many other people who got awards) simply because they needed to make a high profile gig and so invite some 'celebs' and give them a 'gong' .
