The room I rent in the apartment I share doesn't have a TV for that matter the apartment doesn't, guess I'm not very well off by Swiss standards lol

I've been here ten years now, and still every now and then something comes along that's like being smacked around the gob with a wet haddock.

It was interesting that rates to contractors from the UK and EU fell when the franc got stronger, but that clients were still paying roughly the same.

No problem, I've been here a couple of months now so I've managed to fill out all the necessary paperwork etc so I'm happy to give you any information I may have. Healthcare here is also compulsory and is paid for by you it has to be obtained within 3 months of entering the country and will be backdated to the beginning of the month you entered. So if you enter half way through the month or towards the end you will still pay the full amount for that month.

Thanks Spartan. Checked this out with the international specialist at my accountant's office and this is correct.

I heard from a couple of people who had colleagues who worked at SIX. They are said to be very professional.

Thanks for the tips guys. You are right about the cost of living. It is extremely expensive.
    I've been before.

Hotels are expensive as well as flats. Accommodation can be a huge problem there. Competition for flats is massive and flat shares as well.

Re tax in 2 countries, if you go for long enough I believe you could be classed as Swiss resident for tax. Customers over there can ask for a 12-18 month deployment. Thanks for the reminder, I am going to check it out more just in case.

I don't work for SIX Group but I do work and live in Zurich and it is mighty expensive and do your homework regarding possible tax in both countries.

No, but make sure your rate matches the cost of living over there cos everything is expensive.

Was there working for 1 week at the beginning of August and was dismayed at how expensive things were, pub meal with 2 pints £35, Thai or Indian takeway about £25.

Clean, tidy and the trams ran on schedule.
