Interesting program on TV tonight at 10 can't remember which channel called "Show me your money" in which all the employees of some company reveal how much they each earn to the other members of staff.

From the trailer it looked like there were some naffed off people, 2 people doing the same job for wildly differing wages.

Looked fun.

Edit : Just checked and its on Channel 4.

I watched part of this, couldnt believe it when their engineers revealed their wages, most of the Plumbers were on £75K, £80K a year and it was implied that One of their Drainsmen was on £150K, this astounded me, id no idea these type of tradesmen earnt so much, surely this is a lot more than your average Plumber etc or am I missing something here?

Why would a company sign up for this?

So they could cut some off their top workers earnings or get rid of them?

Though you are right if there is no logical explanation for the differences then they may end up with some lawsuits.

It makes me wonder if they are really going to use real workers or actors for that - I guess there may be some more naffed people watching that on TV going to work tomorrow and telling their boss they need a raise...

People get p*ssed off if the wages are different and there is no logical reason for it i.e. education, experience.

In many European countries people know what other people earn.

It's been amusing when I've had European contracts as I tell people the day before I leave as I know I'm not coming back. They then realise when I stated I'm not as young/uneducated/inexperienced as they think I'm telling the truth.

Why will I use my own paper? As long as my rate is OK everyone else's is pointless from my personal point of view.

That's what permies say until they find out that the person who they think does less work than them gets £3k a year more, or the new girl started on the same salary as they get despite having 10 years experience.

Then people start to get upset.

Having been involved with payroll a lot lately, its better if no one knows nothing.

Its a broad paper to analyse the long terms benefits / concerns of IT contracting.

2008 W - 15% = X

Change contract

2010 X + 36% = Y

Change Contract

2011 Y - 1.5% = Z

9 months later

2011 Z - 10% (Current)

So since 2007 I am up about 15%

I know school budgets are tight but did I miss the memo that English and Maths class has been merged!
