    search engines

If you do a Google search for "Search engine", Google comes eighth (or ninth, if you miss out the quotes). Behind Lycos, Altavista and the mighty Dogpile. Draw your own conclusions.

Anybody remember 37.com (lots of nasty pop ups) and apparently on its way out. Their in process of shutting down their free email - so I've had to find somewhere to file my SPAM (mails from nice agents reminding me to update something called IProfile).

It's shocking how bad most CVs are, some people really just don't care......
How do you know if you've got a good CV?
By researching and comparing the competition, i.e. get a load of CVs of other people / contractors who do similar stuff to you and read them.....
Cut and paste the good bits and create a hybrid.
It also helps to have a clear and concise layout, bullet points are excellent and clear partitioning between different sections is good......
Finally, if you're using paper, make sure it is Conqueror, medium weight, off-white in colour, paper clips never staples.

Maybe might find some interesting and thought provoking ideas in:

    XMLResume

    http://xmlresume.sourceforge.net/

They have a standardised XML DTD for CV/Resume.

Ive just discovered it and have the utils all running. Just about to add my CV to see how it looks. The example could do with a tweak for looks. I will be pulling the CV data from database into XML CV DTD then sitting back to watch the transformations.
