recruitment of perm and contractors for clients

There are quite a few threads on this lately, the consensus of opinion is yes you could, but probably shouldn't, have a search for why.

A better approach could be to try and find a friendly agent and work in some sort of partnership with them

We never did hear if that guy got on the PSL of his client did we?

Over the last 12 months I’ve found myself moving away from actually doing the day to day work at a clients site and more to providing a true consultancy, training and mentoring service. Part of that includes recommendations for changes, improvements and efficiencies and some of these have led to new roles within the companies and I’ve then helped recruit a few people. A couple of these people have been contractors that I knew already and 1 person that was an ex-colleague that I found a permanent job for.

Now I’ve probably missed a trick here is not charging anything or getting any commission but it got me thinking! I’m also now at a client where I’m going to recommend some big changes and I can see some new roles coming up. Can I position my company to also act in a recruitment capacity and fill gaps for companies either on a perm or contract basis, my guess is yes but never having done this before I have no idea where to start.

Anyone else out here done that before and can share some advice? It’s something I could do as part of my current engagements on a small scale and learn the ropes and could be something I look to expand into seriously as I know this niche area very well.
