He then went on to mention that a new aim has appeared for the end of 2012 and into 2013 and that is for the company to be contractor free and permify those contractors that they want to keep.
Go for a model that negates any flexibility while paying permies to sit on the bench (that actually costs the same as a contractor) in down times and not enough people to grow the business quickly enough in boom times.
Sounds more like you got yourself a place for the next few years to me. Maybe a stint out where they try it and fail but when they come begging you up your rate by a good percetage.
Either that or they will actually bin all the contractor heads but shift them over to a managed service providor so they disappear from head count but still cost the company the same.
