NIce photos, the only negative thing about them was the fact that the title had chavs in.

"Chavs in the market street", "chavs walking past the museum", "chavs canoeing on the canal". If it weren't the fact they they were "chavs", looks nice. I must say visually, I find it hard to distinguish a Chav from a normal young person.

So basically the problem with Basingstoke is that it's full of Chavs.

Quaint is not a word I'd ever associated with Basingstoke - see below...

I have indeed gone for the first option after thinking long and hard about it.

There were some good points for the second option, a permie role given the current climate didn't seem such a bad prospect and would have given me the chance to gain some new skills, however phrases like "yearly appraisals" and such like at the interview gave me cold shivers and flashbacks to my previous permie life

In the end however it was the thought of having commute to and work in Basingstoke town centre... a truly horrible place.

So... back to contracting with a vengence

Option A, also give you flexibility for some extra hours, being on an hourly rate, unless of course that is contra to your contract.

Yes, I've also noticed a lot more activity in the last week or so.

Congrats on the job offers. Will you have to pay to park in the city centre?

Option 1, I think - unless you want the permie job at the end.

Anything to avoid the kind offer of a permie role, that and being stuck in traffic gets annoying

It's a lot nicer to travel a lit further if you a route that avoids traffic jams

It has to be A surely

started a topic Market picking up

    Market picking up

Seems like the market is picking up - finished my last contract at the end of March, and found April was really quiet. Been a lot more gigs about in May and I'm now in the position of having to choose between two offers

    1. 3 month, decent hourly rate, longer distance but easy access (motorway) with good possibilities (historically) of extension but nothing definite. Located on small biz estate on edge of town near motorway junction.

    2. 3 month contract, decent day rate, 10 miles closer but due to the nature of the roads (busy single carriageway A roads) will probably take longer to reach than option 1. Option of decent salary permie role at the end. Located right in the middle of a cr*ppy town with nightmare traffic.

So not as clear cut a choice as it might seem at first glance... decisions decisions!
