From client perspective it is probably better that they did know you are pregnant so they can recruit someone who is more likely to offer them continuity. Probably totally un-pc but another harsh reality being suggested.

It's the second scan, and yeah I know....but when you've been out of work for the last 5 months, you start to feel a bit scared....I told the agent and the agent probably told the client....

There's also the feeling of, crumbes I have a child, I need to go and earn some bread...

Yeah I would side with getting the work. There's a time for feeling sentimental but that's something for you, when you have the luxury to do so. Providing for baby is a top priority... of course "providing for" doesn't just mean money but love as well.

Oh well, lesson learned. I hope the scan went well, most importantly.

I think you just need to think about what you are talking about here.

Your baby, your future child to be, first scan, once in a lifetime opportunity. Once in this Universe opportunity for you, your partner and you baby to be.

Out of the countless billions of galaxies, stars and planets that scan is just unique.

And you are worrying about a contract.

You had your priorities right but then you went and screwed it all up angsting over a lost contract.

Btw, did you tell the agent about the scan and did the agent tell the end client. Perhaps the end client did not want someone who is going to have many months of sleepless nights ahead of him working for them?

Well this week I had an interview scheduled with a insurance company at a good rate. It was on Monday. However I changed the day to Tuesday as I thought I was going to my baby's scan on Monday and let them know. (Turns out I got the date of the baby scan wrong, it's next Monday! )

On Tuesday, the agent called up and said they have taken someone on from the Monday interviews.

What a rookie mistake!! Ofcourse they were, unless all the candidates on Monday were so bad they were going to rely on me coming in on Tuesday.

I realised that stating the fact that I have a baby on the way probably didn't help things in terms of consideration either.

Pity, as I wanted to get into insurance and feel that is a good sideway route into finance market.

You snooze - you lose.
