    It works until they say - "You have a funny English accent" and "Why don't you speak properly like on [insert name of American TV program]" or more importantly until you have a problem in your rental apartment and they decide they can't understand you so can't fix it.


    BTW these things are common around Europe.

    You do realise that Belgium uses more than one language don't you?

    Least with Sweden, Germany, Netherlands etc they speak one language in the country so you only have to bother learning one which would make it easier for you to change jobs.

    If you are going to go permie in Europe then go to Holland, Norway, Sweden, Germany as those countries look after their workers and they are not Belgium.
