I have explained company B that realistically I may not be able to stay with them for 4 weeks, I only have offer from company A now, which is my only offer and hopefully nothing will come in between.

Sometime jobs are just like girls/ or buses! They all come to you at the same time!

Slow down dude! It can take several days to negotiate the terms on a contract anyway, because whichever side didn't write the contract needs to get their legal people to check it, suggest amendments, then the other side needs to check the amendments. Your position with A will be a lot clearer before B's official.

I wondered whether it’s a good idea to start working for company B for a week and then maybe asking company B to offer me to work on part time basis evening/weekend from home or even terminate my contract if company A hires me in 2 weeks time?.

This is my first time contracting through my own limited company,will I be in trouble if I leave in the middle of contract?
What’s the best thing to tell company B at this stage? They are waiting for my feedback and expecting me to start in about 5 day’s time.
Can I buy insurance on monthly basis for my limited company?

I am sure some of the guys here will be a bit more cut throat than me but I would go for the honesty route. I personally think its a tulipty trick to take a contract knowing full well you can't complete and then hope they will bend over a barrel for you cause you have them by the short and curlies. Gives us all a very bad rep.

You can terminate your contract as per what it says in your contract. They may give you a months notice or something then your screwed. Yes you can just walk but they will withhold ALL your payment and worked for nothing.

You are talking one month here though, terminating in two weeks, 'possibility' of extention. Thats just rubbish. Two weeks working isn't going to kill you is it? If you screw it up your rep may proceed you and stop you getting work in the future. Is this worth 2 weeks of wage (or in fact 0 wage and 2 weeks of effort if they withold payment).

Do one or the other and don't try and play them off. The only person that will get burned is you IMHO

Hi Guys,

I have a permanent offer from employer A (verbally accepted the offer and due to start in 15 days time), still waiting for references to be checked and to waiting to receive the paperwork in couple of days time etc… …

I also have another offer from employer B which is 1 month long contract with possible extension and starting in 5 days time (this is not my top priority but I would like to keep all the options open until I start working for employer A or I’m absolutely sure that nothing comes in between and I definitely get the job with employer A)

Now employer B is asking me for proof of company insurance and to start in 5 days time.
