I've had two contracts at Barcap and yes they have both been er cr*p.
Too many people not knowing what they were doing, not helped by too much IT work being rushed and then falling over as a result.
i.e. Technical architects not knowing which systems to use or how and all technical requirements at such a high level to make them next to useless.
I hope that you have a better experience then I did. Good luck.

I am about to start a new contract in Knutsford and looking for somewhere to stay only Mon-Fri then off to the airport. Can anyone recommend me places to stay hotels or b&b's. Thanks very much.

Spent most of my life living just down the road from that. Can vouch its a really nice area (everywhere round there is though really).Originally posted by Zeon View PostHere you go: http://www.astlefarmeast.co.uk/
They are based in Chelford and it's about a 5 minute drive in normal weather to Radbroke Hall (aka Barclays) just go through Lower Peover.
Also do discounts if you are going to be there for a while.
Not a lot of nightlife but its close to Macc, Alderley and Wilmslow and a lot of decent country pubs round there.
Know that road its on well as always take my bike up there and its a screaming ton+++ full throttle run from Monks Heath lights up to Chelford roundabout, go round the roundabout and repeat back up to Monks Heath. Nice bit of road!

Knutsford and surrounding area is a pretty expensive place. Look a bit further afield in the direction of Middlewich and Northwich you should be able to get fixed up for around £20 a night for B&B. You'd be about 25 minutes from Knutsford.

Does he drive an MX5?Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr;1040617My friend owns a B & B just down the road in wilmslow area. I do a bit of technical work for him every now and then.
And because he just opened its just £25/night and if your looking for 5 nights a week I can probably get it you cheaper than that.
Let me know if your interested.
Also its literally 5 mins drive from the airport

Barclays, then? Worked there a couple of years back. PM me if you want to discuss offline.Originally posted by por997 View PostHi Everyone,

The area doesn't have a great deal to chose from, hotel wise. What hotels there are seem to be full, and/or expensive. If you have a car - and I hope you do, based on where they are located - then I'd push a bit further out towards Sale/Hale/Alty. You'd get a better variety and cheaper prices, and still be able to get to work in 30 minutes (that's how long it took me from Sale via the motorway.) Mind you, I used to drive past a couple of B&Bs in Knutsford town centre, so they could be worth a look.
Also, you might be better off renting a small house or flat if the contract is longer than 3 months. Something to consider, as prices are pretty cheap in Sale/Alty/Timperly (check Rightmove.)Last edited by nomadd; 7 January 2010, 22:43.
