This person has a competitive advantage (ie, he`s in a contract that now requires it). They have experience and a skill nobody else has, good for them!!! I suppose you think the client should now advertise these posts posts so other non-cleared candidates can apply for them, in case they`re missing out? It`s unfair isn`t it?

I have no issue at all with people obtaining it as I hope my posts show, just certain thinking and girly whinging

Handling stolen goods (mobile phones) and theft (a battery from boots) damm what i used to do when i was young.

It was a long time ago and you were young, I`m sure you`ll be okay

Why? Clearly here's a case of someone geting secure work without clearance. I thought that was not only impossible but unnecessary. Or have I misunderstood your earlier posts?

Sorry to be negative, but fessing up affected a friend of mine. On contract for about 14 months with no issues, then asked to leave after the form went in ... I guess it depends on what it's for ... good luck!

Just hope am not unlucky, but life goes on even if it goes the other way.

I did put my CR history and an explanation in a seperate sealed envolope for them to read.

I received a caution a few years back. Its never been a problem, not even with the IBs. As long as you admit it, you should be fine - it demonstrates your honesty. Plus you can't then be blackmailed.

As an added bonus, just think of all the extra contracts that will be opened up to you once you get SC.

What they said, just be completely honest on the forms, you`ll probably be okay. I believe you can write a little story about it also if you wish (why it happened, lesson learned etc) if it makes you feel better .

I work for a goverment organisation (public transport) and after 10 months on the contract they decided we should all have SC to continue our work.

Sorry to go off topic, but ....

Typical of the public sector: "Mmmmm, may be we should do security checks on all our staff including the contractors". Oh FFS !

And BTW, best of luck with the SC - I think you'll be OK if you fess up.

Plenty of people - I know a few.

As Mal says, as long as you are honest with them, then you should have nothing to fear (unless you were done for treason). They know what you did, it's whether you are prepared to be honest with them about it.

Been asked before. Unlikely to make any difference as long as you are honest about it (the form has a separate section to keep details confidential). What will screw you is if you aren't honest about it: they will know your record anyway, the test is to see if you are telling porkies or not.
