Really? I wonder how I got into RBS a few months ago then? I must have had some RBS experience I never knew about.

But the guy liked me at Populo liked me so not a complete waste of time he's got other stuff coming up. Always find Edinburgh frustrating half the tech jobs never seem to get advertised all word of mouth.

Really? I'm suprised about that. I was down about 40% on my rate from a couple of years ago. Thankfully things have picked up a bit.Originally posted by minestrone View PostDespite being round most of the places in Scotland I have never seen a RBS job going or had a call regarding one.

I'm 95% on to be starting again in an Edinburgh financial shortly, rate is down from the last time I was there but still OKish.Originally posted by Torran View PostAye they have, quite a lot of disbanding of teams and shifting people about. A few of the senior tech managers have left. To be honest the contractors haven't been hit half as hard as the permies. Rates are down quite a bit, luckily there are others in Edinburgh paying well.

Did they bump loads of people out of the Edinburgh offices? I know they dropped rates.

To be honest techy roles are harder and harder to get in Rbs as most of the dev work is outsourced to India. Plenty business pm roles about though and not that difficult to get into. On my last programme there I was working with at least 3 Rbs noobs.
Changed days there from Sir Fred's boomtime. Become a bit of a shell to be honest.

I think you must be one of the very lucky ones. I have gone for a few roles with them where I was ideally qualified and got through the techie phone interviews and face to face only to be told much later that it had gone to "an internal candidate".Originally posted by stingman123 View PostWHS, I did a desktop refresh for RBS a few years back, and came in form the cold, has a few gigs since and you only need to get credit checked

If memory serves me correctly... some utilities companies will have an entry on your credit profile (which can be checked via Experian and others). If your credit profile shows bad debt / default on debt, the client who checks your profile could use this to not take on your services, especially if you are working for a financial organisation or an organisation where you will have some financial control or the ability to control the systems that have accountancy attached to it.Originally posted by foxbat3000 View PostIf I'm credit checked I'm screwed Scotland doesnt jail people for debts so I haven't paid council tax for awhile i mean if it your electric and gas what would you do?
