Have you ever thrown a laptop in the bin?

They just collect around my house, which is pointless.

My job is always customer facing I like having access to the latest equipment something that will 'just do' just won't cut it.

You can pick up a real good laptop from HP, Dell etc themselves from their sites on on Ebay for 500 quid complete with software, maintenance, next day replacement directly from the vendor etc. So why on earth would you want to lease a laptop?? Its just not worth it. What do you hope to gain?? Laptops are throwaway commodity items these days.

If you are not happy with the above, you can get a free laptop from most broadband providers. Assuming that you will pay for a broadband service anyway, what else do you want??

I need to insure it, can you recommend a company that does laptop insurance.

I know PCW offer it, but surely there must be others & better prices.

I've contacted PC world business which is rentsmart, they only do 3 year leases but you can upgrade after 2 years (tying you in conveniantly)

how did you get a 1 year lease ?

My mistake, it's a 3 year lease with the option of of upgrading after 2 like you say.

Still for me it's better then collecting dead paper weights.

My Ltd is leasing a Mac book pro through http://www.rentsmart.co.uk/ for about £40 a month.

At the end of 12 months I can hand it back and walk away, or continue for another year, which at the end of I can keep. What's that, £960?

Or at the end of 2 years I can hand it back and continue with the latest machine available.

It's perfect option for me when on the move, means I got the latest equipment and there's no more tears over not knowing what to do with the viao I once bought for near £1800 and has now become a paper weight.

It's gets replaced within 48 hours (so they say). I pay £5 on top of the rent for insurance per month.

Dont lease it. You just end up in a rolling lease because the new one this year is only 'a few quid more a month.'

In truth hardly anyone needs to replace a laptop every 2 years.

For finance reasons it's better to lease than buy. Still feels wrong to me though...
