This role is for JLR who have been recruiting steadly since xmas - just the rates are bad BA about 200 quid a day depending if you go via agency or if INCAT are involved. PM between 215 and 145 pd.

I spent 10 years in the motor industry in the 90's and can confirm that it's THE most volatile sector of all...apart from Construction which I had the abstract hoy of working in up until fairly recently.

I must be like a dodgy sector magnet.....now where's that banking application gone?

If that is a real gig, I very much doubt that anyone in teh car industry can find funding for anything at the moment.

I know guys connected to Land Rover and everything is hour by hour at the moment it's that bad!

That would be Land Rover at Solihull. Its the IT Separation programme for Ford & LR. The PM jobs are about that rate too The deal to carry out the programme was signed before the downturn hit last year.

Don't forget Jaguar.

Tata have bought them both. I would think these contracts are with TCS who are likely to pay peanuts given they normally provide outsource services in the UK.

I'd take a perm role rather than PM at that rate, to be honst I'd take a perm role rather than PM at double that rate.

The test lead must have a minimum of 3-5 years test management experience, in terms of being responsible for delivering testing on a project. In addition, you also must have excellent technical knowledge of software infrastructure and managing deliverables from third part suppliers. Please note I am not looking for any candidates who are Senior Test Analysts or have minimal experience as a Test Lead. I’m looking for a solid test manager.

I'm in the MOSS / MS area and there is some weak demand. 2/3 calls per day. OK 50% of those are worthless.

Had a project lined up with an old client, but that was cancelled at the last minute.

This is my 6th week of bench time. These are very tough times at the moment. I don't think anyone has any idea how bad it's going to get or when it will recover.

On the bright side things move much more quickly in the economy these days. So it's likely that any recovery will be swift. However, the worry is that we are just on the edge of a full blown depression.

Gulp. Should I put my MOSS training manual back on the shelf then?
