I spent 10 years in the motor industry in the 90's and can confirm that it's THE most volatile sector of all...apart from Construction which I had the abstract hoy of working in up until fairly recently.

I must be like a dodgy sector magnet.....now where's that banking application gone?

    Don't forget Jaguar.

Tata have bought them both. I would think these contracts are with TCS who are likely to pay peanuts given they normally provide outsource services in the UK.

I'd take a perm role rather than PM at that rate, to be honst I'd take a perm role rather than PM at double that rate.

That sounds about right for Ford and their utterly pointless project.

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Test Lead/Manager to work on a major project based in the Birmingham area for my well known Automotive client.

The test lead must have a minimum of 3-5 years test management experience, in terms of being responsible for delivering testing on a project. In addition, you also must have excellent technical knowledge of software infrastructure and managing deliverables from third part suppliers. Please note I am not looking for any candidates who are Senior Test Analysts or have minimal experience as a Test Lead. I’m looking for a solid test manager.

If you fit this description and are available immediately for a minimum 6 month contract, please reply asap.
Please note the rate for this role is £175 a day.

A permie would earn more than that

Times are getting even more bleak........DOOMED!

Now that was funny though I had an agent phone me about a permie job today for £35k - that was even funnier.

This is my 6th week of bench time. These are very tough times at the moment. I don't think anyone has any idea how bad it's going to get or when it will recover.

On the bright side things move much more quickly in the economy these days. So it's likely that any recovery will be swift. However, the worry is that we are just on the edge of a full blown depression.
Gulp. Should I put my MOSS training manual back on the shelf then?

This is my approach for test roles at the moment. Beggars can't be choosers, and there are so many of us looking and so little to look at.
