I have got contracts from Technojobs and CV Library. They both have high volume of roles and I am sure some unique, so wouldn't always rely on the usual suspects for contracts.
especially on jobserve as you will be competing with everyone else and the market has lots of candidates! (assuming their site is working
)

Jobserve + IT Jobboard was it. IT Jobboard seemed to have some direct posts from Employers (contract and permie) otherwise Jobserve covered 98% of all jobs I saw out there which were repeated elsewhere.

On my last contract at a global systems firm, my occasional office was very close to the recruitment section. I noticed that the recruiters spent a large amount of time on linkedin. I think mostly they were just checking backgrounds, but it seemed to be a good way of getting noticed. I must admit though, that I haven't done much about it yet other than register with them !
I used to find that I got a lot more contacts from Jobsite than Jobserve, but recently it's been CWJobs and CV Library. As it's free, there's really no excuse not to upload details onto all of 'em. IMHO.

As you say, there is almost 100% repetition of jobs between the sites. I did however get quite a number of calls (and interviews) from having a searchable CV up on Jobsite. I couldn't say for sure if the roles were otherwise advertised or not but certainly it seems worthwhile to have your CV up there.Originally posted by Darren_Test View PostIs it good enough to search JOBSERVE advts for IT roles...? Jobserve seems to be the best independent jobboard the others seem to be duplicates and seem to be the domain of a group of agencies.
Some agencies also have their own site where you can set up a daily alert, however most seem useless for job searching. Vacancies sometimes come up relating to jobs in 2008.
Remember after a long contract it can take a while before you rebuild your contact network.

I don't really bother monitoring jobserve now, but I did write an app a while ago that logs into my email every 10 mins parses my instant alerts and fires off a reply with a CV attached, it's quite cool.

Did you get a job then?Originally posted by SneakySimon View PostFrom someone who was searching for 3 months - I used Jobserve primarily but quickly jumped onto using cwjobs.com.
I also used monster.co.uk which is mainly perms, but sometimes came up with some interesting contracting roles but also covered my ass.
I also went around the larger agencies (Spring, Hays, etc) on there online logs - that generated some calls. I also every night would religously go into every place I had my CV and update it to show that was at the top of the lists.
I also focused on lots of firms that would be ideal for my skillset and through a long process of investigation, found out who the primary agency supplier was - a lot of smaller agenices pick up jobs where they realistically don't stand a chance of placing someone.

Look everywhere, and network - call up old contacts ( because you will always leave a contract with contact details of all the useful people) and network - see whats happening and follow up your own leads.
Good luck - there IS work out there
