Venn are probably the worst agency I've had to deal with. I wasted a day going for an interview with them in Manchester when I was trying to get back into contracting, and like others, spent 5 minutes chatting and filling in pointless forms. The only contact I have ever had with them since in the last 3 years, was a blatant fishing call. To boot, their contracts for my skill set in the North West, offer absolute rock bottom rates, which are bordering taking the piss.

About 3 years ago I was asked for an interview at Venn. They said it was in their terms and conditions with their clients. I had to travel from Cambridge to London (Oxford street I think). Filled out the form, I was asked pointless questions. But I got the gig. If they're doing this for phantom jobs then I'd be raging!!
2 years ago went to central Manchester for a pointless "interview". It's only 20 mins away so no big deal in terms of cost. After the interview never heard from them again. Bunch of retarded clowns.

Looks like he was keen on getting reference than any thing more.
I just filled minimum info in their forms & returned..
Looks like its was a total waste of time & energy.
Any one else here had bad experience with Venn's New tricks..???

Unless some one prove it otherwise, please be cautious of Venn Group and their agency interview..its a total waste of time & money..Just a new trick to get reference directly..

Venn Group.LOL. For 7 years I have done agency/contract work and in that time, Venn are the worst I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. Very recently I have been unindated with calls from Venn regarding temp - ongoing. They put me forward for a couple, some I didn't get and one I did (YAY). So I went on the Friday, before the Monday start, to fill in all my bank details and to get one of the Recruitment pep talks on how I should be with the client. The girl sat me down and explained everything and the role I would be doing and that the CV they have on file for me has been modified, she gets it and shows it to me....WOW, is this me? (in my head). Everything on the CV had been modified so when the client looks at it, it looks as though I've been doing this kind of work all my working life. She then says, if the client asks, tell them in your last role you was doing the exact same thing as your about to do when you start on Monday. I say OK (as I need the work, and I have done this role but not since a couple of years ago).

I start on the Monday and by Wednesday I have been relieved of my Duties with the client because the other temp who started along side me seems to be able to adjust a lot quicker than me. The manager pulls me into the office and asks "is there a problem because the other temp seems to be doing a lot better?". I explain that I've only been here 2.5 days and it's a complicated system and I'd expect to be able to navigate it after about 7 - 10 days with ease. By this time I'm sick of lying so I say "what exactly have venn Group said about me?" She then gets the CV they sent over, and I obviously know whats on it before she even brings it in the room. She then asks who I actualy worked for in my last job and how long for. I explain and she then goes bright red with anger.lol - Funniest thing I've ever seen - plus my last employer was a client of this client. Small world.lol.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that Agencies will lie through their teeth to get Commission and don't give a sh*t if your not really capable of doing the job, especially if the Candidate has not worked in that role for 2 years. It also doesn't help when you've been out of work for nearly 3 months and desperation sets in. Yes I conspired with the Agency, but they took a bigger risk and now have to suffer the consequences.

    Tips -
    1: Go direct.
2: Don't go to agencies to sign up - unless they say they have a definite interview (still a pinch of salt)
3: Don't let the recruiter talk his way out of everything (they use big speeches and are good at talking absolute sh*t)
3: Always remember they want commission and they'll do anything to get it.

They asked me to do this once, my response was 'get me the interview first and then we will set up a time to meet up'. They did not manage to get the interview and neither have bothered calling me up after that.

Ven are useless, so useless they have to call up clients to find out if their own contractors are still working with the client

Hardly new mate. Agents have been pulling this for years. You learn the hard way I guess.

    Agency interview

Basic rule of thumb - Agency interviews are pointless wasted of time. There is no job and all they want is to screw you for leads.

I've always just point blank refused to do agency interviews, as you've learnt the hard way, a complete waste of time IMO. A pimp I dealt with recently folded pretty quickly and passed me over to the "senior consultant" for a 5 min chat, which turned out to be an obvious fishing call anyway.
