Another non-IT bod here. I'm an electronics engineer! Though I tend to do anything from EMC to embedded software. My last contract was EMC work at an aerospace company; now I am writing embedded C for a security system. Good to be diverse, I think.

And you, I have failed to find an engineering contractors forum. I don't think there is one (in the UK).

I've contracted through Huxley recently and had no issues at all.

had one client via HA, no trouble except usual arsing around when agreeing rates. reliable and early payers, competent admin staff, agent was a fairly typical and amiable example of his species....

TBH, this is my first contract so I have nothing to compare them too.

Once the contract was sorted however, they keep in touch as required, I can always speak to my agent or her boss and they pay on time.

I'm contracted through the engineering division not the IT division though, I don't know if there's a difference.

That's good for you then, they seem to come across as a bit of an Arthur Daly outfit to me but if you're happy, then fair play to them.

I'm also curious whether anyone ever gets a job through them. I get bombarded by emails for staff jobs that bear no resemblance to my skills usually on awful salaries. My spam filter now removes anything with Hoaxley in it.

They do have some very good clients on their books but they do play he fishing game quite well - dont give them any names and tell them o contact you with real job - that'll probably get a "dont bother fishing" tag against your name in their dtabase

    Hoaxley

    Hi,

Has anyone really managed to secure *contract* through Hoaxley Associates? Its calls never ends without demand 2 references and name of the contact person at the clients whose interviews I attended in past 2 months...

So rude that they just bang the phone down after their purpose is served.. though lately I have been providing names no different than "John Smith's"..
