Previously on "Overseas contracts - where can I find a list of job boards/agents?"
If you're looking for east Asia jobs (mostly mainland China), then try www.51job.com. Unless you're fluent in Mandarin you'll need to click the English link
Gosh those funny chinese characters look positively intimidating!
Can you imagine if you were stuck in a chinese railway station - there is absolutely NOTHING you can read from those characters - you'd have the very real chance of dying from hunger just because you didn't know the 北京 天津 大连 沈阳 长春 哈尔滨 for "Way Out"
Like this job. Its got "SQL Server" in it. But the rest. ????
Best to ignore the jobs on offer and look for the agencies contact details then fire your CV with a covering letter.
NOTE: Agencies in Oz and NZ are reputable professionals, I'd never consider calling my agent a pimp (well its a she for a start, so thats a 'madam' anyway). Jobs advertised do exist, and they actually take the time to get to know their clients and would never fish for contacts.
Try contacting Absolute Global in London of you are keen to work in NZ.
Note Australia is probably a better bet, but on the downside you do have to work with Australians...

" ~~attract in OZ/CAN, I'm sure these countries must have their own specific job boards "
Can't speak of OZ, but for CA..... try monster.ca OR workopolis.com
BUT remember, when looking in CA -
a) there are work permit req's ( unless you're a Canuck, of course )
b) CA is like the US ie a low cost / low rate economy. Rates have collapsed to the levels of 10 years ago.
c) the country is BIG, but only a couple of IT centres ie TORONTO and MONTREAL ( French is mandatory ).
When I say "Toronto", that includes anything up to 100 miles around, not easily commutable.
( Can take 2 hours just to get to the 'burbs, where many co's have moved. Public transit outside the d-t core is bleak, at best. Great deals on cars though, but as a newcomer you'd get nailed on insurance )
The other big point is to remember the expression " When the US sneezes, CA catches pneumonia ".
Politicians are running around saying "We're better off" but that's relative.
Wait 'til the big three close their assembly plants.......THEN the brown stuff will hit the revolving thing.
The IT world in CA is not that big and opp's are few.
For EU and Switzerland you´ll find all the contract jobs for English speakers on jobserve. Some EU IT markets are pretty dead anyway, such as France or Italy.
For all other jobs you would be expected to have a CV in the language. So you can try www.gulp.de for example for Germany speaking countries, and you will see more contracts. But I find the good contracts are on Jobserve anyway.
I get a daily e-mail from GULP of relevant contracts and today there was a rather nice 12 month one going. What is interesting it is also on Jobserve from 2 different agencies yet advertised as permanent, not too sure what is going on there...
For GULP you can also pay €120 a year for membership which allows you a lot of other benefits (daily e-mail for instance and jobs via SMS as soon as they are available) which has been very worthwhile for me having been contacted by various companies and getting contracts

Yep, if you don't have language ability, local job site are useless as the people that post there will be wanting people to speak the lingo.
Jobserve is the place that foreign jobs for English speakers are posted
