Agent offering multiple opportunities

We sometimes have multiple contracts come up for the same candidate and put them forward for both. It doesn't mean that you wont get the first one just makes sense that if we think you are good enough for the first one then why risk another candidate who may not be as good for the second one!! If I dont put you forward another agent may do and I would lose out on both!!!

I've only had this with spamming agencies - the ones who have not been asked by the client to represent them. So they try and send your cv to as many places as possible.

WageSlave, every time an agent has mentioned another exciting opportunity to me, I never got interviewed for the first opportunity I contacted him for in the first place. I think you are right to be suspicious if that happens - it may as well mean "sorry you didn't get the first one", whether it's because they didn't put you forward in the end, or they did but the client rejected your CV.

It's not something I've heard of, agents usually push hard if you've been put forward unless they know otherwise...

That was my suspicion.

I suppose I already know the answer to this but it would be good to have a second opinion.

If an agent (or agency) put you forward for a role and then contacts you the following day (or whatever timeframe) and offers 'another exciting opportunity', does this mean that they never put you forward for the first role after all? Or do agents/agencies genuinely forward a candidate for more than one role or more than one client at a time?
