No point in getting 12 months where you can't claim expenses!! Have 9 months and then another 3 afterwards, if that's what you really want to do.
Well tbh I'm bored and ready to move on, but the market's a bit flaky at the moment, so I may hang on and sell my soul for more cash (if I'm offered a renewal).

Michael Page send you two contracts when you get a job, both have titles on the front in bold, black letters:

    Standard version

    and

    Opt-out version

...and once a letter from the consultant recommending legal advice when deciding whether 'opting out was suitable for your circumstances'.

Now..... I'm sure the very fact that you are signing a contract to confirm the client, rate and contract length you have already been "introduced" to the client And I love the fact that they are so blatant about it to even write it in big shouty letters on the front of the contract.

Personally I would have some fun with your agency and reply with a chain of letters whenever they reply. I envisage "I don't understand what you mean", then "but why should I sign it, how does it benefit me?", then "could you explain all of this to me again please?"

See how long they keep sending back e-mail/letters before giving up

    Silly silly agency

I've just received a letter from my current agency saying:

"We do not appear to have a signed opt out form from you. Please can you sign this and send it back. "

I have been contracting through said agency for 14 months...
Working...
