How does it compare to what you would normally make?

Some people here would jump at the chance to earn £350 a day; others wouldn't get out of bed for that. Without knowing what you normally look for, it's impossible for anyone to really have a clue what would make good, bad or even reasonable advice.

Since you only describe the rate as "rather disappointing" rather than anything worse, I'd probably take it, since 100% of something is better than 0% of nothing. That said, I have no idea what the contract market for your skillset is like, since I have no idea what your skillset is....

Spend the 6 months making yourself well-loved and indespensible; then jack the rate through the ceiling and see if you can hang on for another 6 before they can get rid of you.

A bit vague aren't you? If it’s for sticking boxes on desks then yes that's a great rate, if you are expected to mastermind ICI's I.M then its rubbish.

BTW... In my field that would be a great rate.

£350 p/d for 6 months or nothing until the forseeable future. No-brainer for me. Check your notice period to see how quickly you can get out.

I do an hour commute to and from work for a lot less than what you are on. Be grateful that you are getting the rate you are on in this economic period.

Look at it in terms of a (roughly) £46K piece of work. Does that change your perspective or not?

I would say take it for now, it is super quite in the IT contract market at the mo. What's the notice period? (as you can always give notice if something better comes along).
