    Interesting point. Nothing wrong with being one's own agent!

    Could even set up another 'agency' company so the client's don't suss it out, if they insist on going via an agency rather than direct.

    Here’s a thought, talk to the previous contractors/permies you have worked with and see what sorts of projects they are working on and maybe see if they think extra bodies are needed. Get them to put in a good word for you, pass you the contact details of the person in charge, give them a ring email etc.

    Or how about your previous employers, see if they have any requirements coming up or perhaps they may have friends colleagues in other businesses that need someone. Again they can give you contacts and put in a good word for you.

    Although if you need to be told this maybe stick with the agents…

    Never had to do it personally as it's always been the other way round for me. However, I have recently been invited to put in a proposal for some work and I've put in EOIs in the past.

    Yep. And also, when they've a budget of £1000 a day for some work that suits you, they call you and ask if you're available.
