I hurt my back when I did the bench bench too heavy without warming up earlier on this year, and my back is still fooked now....

finally decided to go see a physio next week...was hopefully it would sort itself out...

I'd take 4 days over 5.....over the my entire career, only 20% of the time have I needed to use all 5 days to get the project done.....the other 80% I spent a lot of the time dossing....

Got to go where the work is in my part of the country, so dont knock it.

Alternatively, I could do as you suggest and drive 80 miles each way a day for 5 days instead. Not! That still means a further 2 hours a week behind the wheel so what's your point (the 4 days is less driving, less stress and more economical)?

Be a hero all you want. Hope you enjoy your 5 day a week grind with just 2 days off.

I've recently got the offer of a 4 day working week, however, given the choice I'd rather spread the working week over the 5 days and not four, as I said to my client. Don't get me wrong I'm no working class hero or anything but I find if I squash the working week into 4 days the following occurs:

    1) The quality of my work is never the same on the last hour of the day as it was on the first, however, this is not the case when spread over 5 days.

    2) I'm prone to every illness and constantly tired when working so much in the space of four days. Again don't get me wrong I exercise often and eat healthily, but squashing a working week into 4 days just does not cut it.

My time off comes from either not accepting that contract extension or the similar. This year I've managed almost 4 months leave ok 2 of them were unplanned:O)!

You ask is a 5 day better than a 4 day week. I'd say 4 days every time.

In my circumstances deffo 4 days though. Im contracted to work 35 hours a week which is a 7 hour day over 5 days. Alternatively I work 4 days which gives me a nice long weekend starting on Thursday evening.

I currently do a 160 mile commute to work 4 days a week instead of 5. This saves me 160 miles on the car every week and also means I have to fill the car less often.

5 Days doesnt do anything for me except make me very tired and more out of pocket. Even if I lived on the doorstep of the workplace, Id chose 4 days every time.

Good feeling indeed. It's also a good feeling to turn down jobs too whilst in an extended contract.

Got mine offered to me last week, pretty glad as at first they told me nothing was going to come of it but then something turned up on another team.
