0, 0.5 (Chat with a mate);
I've turned down work recently as I wasn't interested in working abroad.
1 = 2 years,
1 = 1.5 years (actually was 3 over 2 day period and all were offered contract)
1 = 1 year
1 = 1 year (really had two but both offered a contract)
0 = 1 Year (Old client)
3 = 2 Years (First i was really bummed about because was perfect fit, great rate and would have got me back into financials, second was agency/client screwing me around as contract had already been filled day before and they were using me as a fall back)
2 = 2.2 years (first one was totally inapropriate contract)
Think missing one in that list but tbh memory is getting fuzzy in my old age
1 - Phone interview, five month contract
1 - Phone interview, six month contract
2 - Phone interviews, offered both jobs, took one, one month contract
1 - Phone interview, six month contract
1 - Face to face interview, six months contract so far
The more interesting statistic would be how many roles people applied for before getting the interviews.
When I was looking for the first contract, I had a face to face interview, which I didn't get the role for (too expensive / other candidate too cheap), then a phone interview for the wrong role, then got the role after the next phone interview.
Since then, I think I've got every role I've interviewed for.
1 phone -2 years
1 phone - 6 mnths
1 recommendation - 6 mnths
1 face to face - 18 mnths
1 recommendation - 9 mnths
1 face to face - 15 mnths and counting
I used to throw in a few obscure questions when doing technical interviews, just to find out whether the candidate would bluff or admit that they didn't know. Only an unconvincing bluff would count against.
1st - 1 interview, successful (but took 7 weeks to get an interview - 4 weeks notice period from permie, then 3 weeks without any income )
2nd - 4 interviews, success on 1st, 2nd and 4th. Took the 2nd.
3rd - 2 interviews, success on 1st and 2nd. Took the 2nd
4th - 0 - bought plane ticket, flew to client country, met with client, agreed T&C, and started working
5th - 1 interview, successful.
6th - 0 interview, visited client for a day, had lunch with them, started working
7th - 0 interview, client asked me to come and work for them
8th - 1 interview, successful
9th - 1 interview, successful
Did once get asked to do a technical test via telephone. I just replaced the receiver. No time for gymics where they try to catch you out.
Like your style! I know what you mean, some spotty p***k looking for something very obscure and highly irrelevant in order to look good in front of his permie friends.
